Baiyi Cuisine
text The Nationalist army suffered heavy casualties in Myanmar and retreated to Taiwan in 1961. Retreated along with the army were relatives of the guerilla minority ethnic groups, include: Dai ethnic group,Yao ethnic group and the Miao ethnic group etc. The government accepted majority of the army and Baiyi ethnic groups, and resettled them in the Chingching region. Under the guidance of the Veteran Affairs Commission, the desolate lands of the Chingching area were transformed into farmland, and resulted in modern day Chingching. The Baiyi ethnic groups also inherited the cuisine characteristics from the Yunnan region, and they have made a name for themselves at Chingching. Consequently, tourists visiting Chingching are now able to enjoy exotic gourmet cuisines.
