ToldescribeDuring November 2002 in Zhushang Township in Nantou County, the government launched earthquake relevant, and Processor Wen-Shen Chen from the Geoscience Department of National Taiwan University hosted Chelungpu Fault Paleo-earthquake Investigation Program. Clear rupture on the surface which caused by the Jiji Earthquake was found; meanwhile, the clear fold and fault structures shown on the profile of the trench were regarded as the evidence of paleo-earthquake and the rare ecological landscape, which were valuable for academic research and preservation. Thus, Chelungpu Fault Preservation Park was built, forming a comprehensive geological and biological park with Fonghanggu Bird and Ecology Park and Earthquake Museum.
